they don't squeeze pennies!!!!!!! they hijack thousands!!!!!

My personal tactic is to record them. FDCPA requires they state, their full name, company info and number! Tell them you know the rules and they are breaching them. Even if you don't record them, it gets them every time! They can't claim legal action either. It's a big no-no with FDCPA! Look at the FDCPA site.

those collector agencies are fucking idiots, they keep calling my neighbors and my house, asking for person that doesn't live here, and when i say that you got the wrong numebr they say they will file "lawsuit agains't me because i'm lying". Wtf?

it's not embarrassing because every one is having a hard time paing something.

All I say is GET A REAL JOB you corperate lacky kiss asses.

People shouldn't borrow money they can't pay back. But there should be limits on how credit card companies can market themselves. They should be banned from marketing to college students on campus. High school counselors should tell students NOT to go to college if it's going to get them into huge debt. Oprah should stop telling people to go to college--she is just a shill for Sallie Mae. And hospitals are slime when they send bigger bills to patients who are uninsured.

What is more embarrassing than being a debt collectors trying to squeeze pennies out of you and break ur relationships with ur family?

(cont'd) I also read that debt collectors are the source of countless bankruptcies, divorces, emotional distress, you name it. Then you have the so-called junk debt buyers, that have their own sub-class. Unless the ACA does something, debt collectors will always be viewed contemptuously. I am a debtor trying to repair my credit, by cleaning my past and building my future.

(cont'd) Debt collectors should be the last people to complain. They get default judgments 90% of the time.Law firms like Mann Bracken win arbitration 98.98% of the time. They get settlement offers. It is a lucrative, highly profitable business. But the scare tactic that they use to make older folks in nursing homes cry in solitude is to me worse than bestiality.

People default on their loans for reasons that are too many to list them on this comment section. While there are lots of deadbeats and people who are poor managing their spending habits, most consumers would rather pay up their bills and get it over with. The problem is, too often times, the debt collectors grossly inflate the amount of debt. They buy it for 2cents to a dollar and want to collect at 200% of the face value, or whatever they can collect.

(con'd) Remember, the FDCPA was written and enacted with the understanding that the average consumer is "unsophisticated." You are right. FDCPA gives 30 days window for the consumer to request of Validations of Debt in writing. But again, the average consumer is unsophisticated. So if you are a debt collector and receive a DV letter, even outside the 30 day window, you'd better give it the deserved attention.

stpaulmn08, My previous posts were highly summarized. A debt collector may not contact a consumer before 8am or 9pm, nor should he call at the consumer's place of employment if the debt collector knows or has reason to know that the consumer's employer prohibits the consumer from receiving such communication. It is too long to list FDCPA statues here. Suffice to say, all the consumer need to tell the debt collector is, "All telephone calls, at anytime and anywhere are inconvenient."

Used car salesmen and bill collectors-both from the same family. Both have no formal education, no real skills, possible drug and or alchohol problems, will never make over 15.00hr base. Commish is for those who didnt take school seriously and now are paying the price. If you are in collections and under 30 GET OUT NOW AND GET BACK TO SCHOOL! its not to late to have a future. You know your credit score is no better than the person you are calling-help yourself!

No wonder this world is going to crap! Pay your bill and shut up! Stop trying to make money off of it and stop screwing everyone else with higher interest rates due to legal fees and lost money to the companies who are nice enough to loan you money in the first place who trust people enough on their signature that they will pay it back in a timely matter...Done with my rant..Bottom line is pay ur bill and you won't have 2 deal with coll. agencies. Stop trying 2 make money sitting on ur ass!

I used to work for the collection agency on the youtube video...numerous years ago...I was not/nor have I ever been a mean person to anyone...although I do know a lot of people that get on the phone and take the call to an unnecessary level. So the answer is to rack up all this debt, bate a collector on the phone to say things against the FDCPA guidelines, and then sue the company so not only do you get more money than you charged, but then you don't have to pay for the stuff you bought?????

At any given time in the day, when you owe a bill, the last thing you want is to be called on it...correct? The inconvenience is defined in the FDCPA....an inconvenient time would be if you are a teacher, emergency worker, restaurant worker, or if you could lose your job due to personal calls. It also states the only way a collection agency may call a cell phone is if you provide it as a good number to reach them unless they are previously unaware that they are calling a cell phone.

AmanKeren, not sure if you worked for a collection agency in the past, have a friend/relative who is/has worked for one before...but your information is not a 100% accurate. In order for you to stop communication, the letter stating you are requesting validation must be postmarked within 31 days of the placement date..meaning 31 days from the date of the 1st notice when the collection obtains the account. The second thing where you state "calling anywhere is inconvenient"....LOL!!!!!!!!!! !!!

I understand why everyone is buying into this. Many of us are in debt and we want someone to tell us its ok not to pay our bills. But we know that its not ok. We know that we sign contracts agreeing to pay later for goods and services recieved. Then later comes and we can't adhere to the agreement. The creditor, however, can and does. This results in everything from letters to liens and should come as no surprise because WE signed for it. Best way to stop a bill collector, PAY YOUR BILL!

(Continued) The result, money in your pocket and clean credit. Never pay a collection agency. If you do, your credit score will drop, because they will enter, "COLLECTION PAID." Instead you need to turn the table on them. Remember, in order to play the game, you need to learn the rules of the game. Google FDCPA.

How to stop a collector: Send them a certfied mail return receipt requested (CMRRR) with these words, "Your claim is disputed, validation is requested. Calling anywhere is inconvenient." If they didn't respond or kept calling you, send them another Intent To Sue letter of course CMRRR with settlment offer to pay YOU, $7000. Next, file a suit at small claims court and serve them with summons. You can easily find process servers online for few bucks.

If I had a gun with only three bullets and I saw a collection agent, Adolf Hitler, and Osama Bin laden in the same room together, I'd shoot the collection agent, three times.

hahaha lol if i knew everyones first and last name what city you live in i can find alot about you thats accurint there showing on there and pay your bill or ill be calling you guys lol. frankie j

Well than pay your bills.

It's crazy these people can get your info just like that scary actually. Who is to say that the collector themselves will commit identy theft on you. You don't know the person

And yeah, they don't hang up because they will get in trouble with their company because they let a live one get away.
