Ron Paul Calls for End to Drug War

Author: urWURLDnow
Description: Ron Paul took an opportunity during the PBS Republican Presidential Debates, moderated by Tavis Smiley, to call for end to the Drug War. "Prohibition didn't work and prohibition on drugs hasn't worked either." Ron Paul cited the unfair disparity in the percentage of blacks imprisoned over drug offenses in proportion with the relative percentage of black drug users, giving example to the system's racial bias. Paul also noted the money wasted on the so-called 'War on Drugs' since the 70s when it's clear that drug use and prison capacity has only swelled in wake of the profit driven motives of the "war."

Most improved, he has very little control(especially constitutionally) as to how the states will function themselves.

i wish we had more people like ron paul

Minted5555...I was a card carrying neocon until I was reintroduced to my roots of Constitutional Republicanism. For a time post 9/11, I left those roots. But once the anger of 9/11 faded and I saw the neocons and neocrats eliminating Habeas Corpus, waging illegal wars against imaginary threats, approving torture and spending us into oblivion, I came back... and Ron Paul was still there, spreading the message of personal liberty, peace and prosperity he always has.

Just because he knows that the federal government has no right to usurp state drug laws doesn't mean he doesn't personally care about the laws at the state level. But being a U.S. Representative, he has no authority to dictate those views to the states. Make no mistake, he does "care" about state drug laws. Peace bro.

Wtb facts from ron paul..all I see are talking points which I've heard 500 million times before.

I'm a democrat too, and I agree with him socially for the most part. However, he just opposes federal bans on drugs, he doesn't care about state ones.

Ron Paul is the truth!

I love that man. I want to hug that freedom preaching zealot!

I think he would do better running as a independent, the word republican scare alot of us away

i am a life long democrat and heavy supporter of obama till this day when i heard ron paul speak he talks of an america i want to be apart of instead of the one i am in now i wish i had heard about him duriing the election but they didnt guive him a floor to speak on i hope to god that he runs again and i personally will go out on the stump in illinois and all neighboring statesa on his behalf !!! a blue blood democrat from chicago

The selectively enforced Drug War is the last form of systematic racism left in America. It's a real killer of a con job. You can't fight a war against abstract concepts, dummies.

VOTE RON PAUL

I love ron I would have voted for him.

hes talking about the mayan prophecies ...i dont believe it will happen, but the mayans were advanced and studied time all there lifes...who know though...i doubt it, but

Barack Obama needs to work closely with this man.

thats exactly what he wanted he wanted you too smoke crack.........DUMBASS

what happened to this guy? why didn't he make it into the final election race? I find his ideas extremely reasonable, even for a republican (which shows that not all republicans are ignorant rednecks, probably most are average citizens with standard ideas)

Amen to that!

Yes, that and the mere fact that logic and reasoning are behind his positions. I'm so sick of politicians having reasons because of faith.

you can not outlaw nature

he wants to stop Prohibition on drugs, just like we stopped Prohibition on alcohol. it doesn't work and leads to organized crime. alcoholism is addiction to alcohol. we don't treat it as a crime but as a disease. it's the same approach we need to take with all drug addiction.

You have so much to learn.....really.

So, Ron Pall wanted to turn America into a nation of drug addicts?

It's too bad Ron Paul didn't get far with his campaign. He's got some good ideas. He's so right about the drug war. Prohibition just caused worse crime, and so is prohibition on drugs.

Ron Paul, agree with him or not, he tells it like it is.
