yeah but calories are fine. you can burn it off & they dont lead to problems if you exercize! trans fat stays in the body! it takes like 10 years to get rid of it.
i'd rather have higher calories than trans fat. my doctor told me so.
We mentioned the labeling fraud in the tag to the story. It just wasn't in this video clip
Terrible confusing news story. It does not quantify risk of various amounts of substances. Trans-fat is very harmful in low amounts 1-3% of dietary energy intake. Replacing it with nearly anything else is a safer option.
The story did not address labeling fraud of calling 0.5 grams of trans fat "zero" tranfat either.
partially hydrogenated IS trans fat!!
The reality is much worse than this video says. Any product that contains partially hydrogenated oil DOES contain trans fat, despite the 0-gram claim. The FDA allows the 0-gram label as long as each serving contains under 0.5 gram of actual trans fat. In Canada the threshold is 0.2 gram. Industrial trans fat can kill people much more easily than saturated fat or just calories, so watch out!
