When man was nomadic didn't raise crops, meaning no grains or legumes for the most part. Man has always consumed flesh. Raw is not the holy grail many people after a lifetime of processed food can't just jump to raw system is'tn ready for it. No one way works for everyone. What can be agreed upon? Fresh over non-fresh. Organic over pesticide laden. High Fructose corn syrup has no value. Hydrogenated oils have no value. Irradiation doesn't make food better.

I agree w/ calories theory

McDougall is a class act. He wants people to get off meat and dairy. Once you do that and become victorious in that realm you can venture out. These other guys are in it for their own glory. Sad but true.

I think McDougall could have explained better his standpoint. In his newsletters there are quite a lot of articles that give detailed information about this subject. We basically know that too much protein is a burden on our liver and kidneys, and we also know that too much fat in the diet causes cardiovascular problems. And we know that our cells primarily use carbohydrate as a fuel, and that excess carbohydrate is not readily converted into fat due to limited de novo lipogenesis. Sum it up.

jees this is not a competition! there is no magic formula for everyone so dont be so dogmatic...it is not encouraging for top nutritionists to disagree on such an issue. sad. weight is not the sign of health either.

RAW IS THE HEALTHIEST DIET

I believe that it is possible to stay healthy into ripe old age and to prevent, stabilise and even perhaps to reverse, many of the chronic degenerative diseases. Underpinning all my research and advice is this simple fact. Given the right nutrition and lifestyle, our bodies have amazing powers of self-healing and regeneration.

i agree with erkekler on The China Study, and so does Dr. Esselstyn who is on this panel.

i noticed Dr. Esselstyn is sitting on the panel as well, could you put his name on the video notes?

I thought I had it figured out before I saw this video, but now...High protein, partial fat, no fat, mostly starches, mostly whatever? I don't know WHICH way to do it now. It's like religion. All saying that they have the correct way, but all contradicting themselves. I'm sorry, but whatever you were trying to do here, well, you blew it.

When the question was asked at the beginning, I thought: "food fight!"......I was right. LOL. People will always fight about diet. I respect McDougal, and didn't think I'd be correcting him. Every culture eats alot of grain because every culture is 'modernized' over the millions of years. When a person shifts to fruits, the body has to adjust(weakness, detox), before they'll feel normal. Try invading a tribe of gorillas.

Yeah sure they are. That's why the most respected health experts refer to the Price foundation every time they do lectures. I was told there's a debate on dvd between the author of the China Study and someone from the Price foundation. They wiped the floor with your guy. I'll see if I can get a copy and put it on youtube for you.

Weston Price is not a valid source to "discredit" real scientific studies. They are a trade group, you silly person. The fact that you don't know this is telling.

Because they are full of shit. the Weston Price Foundation people are not even qualified scientists, their purpose is to promote economic interests of some sectors of the farming industry, so you are flat-out nuts to believe what they say.

Wow.. You are so misinformed I don't know what to tell you. "The China Study" has been completely discredited dozens of times. Why don't you look up the "Weston Price Foundation" and read some of their articles.

read "The China Study", the largest nutritional study ever undertaken with a firm scientific methodology, which proves conclusively that the greater the proportion of the diet that is based on animal products (versus plants) the higher the incidence of major diseases, including heart disease, diabetes, and many (if not all) forms of cancer.

A new study done at Oxford on vegetarians and vegans just came out. The study shows that those on a vegetarian diet, besides anaemia and inflammation of the nervous system are susceptible to BRAIN SHRINKAGE. Of course this is due to the fact that they aren't getting the amounts of B12 that they're supposed to. I believe they're not getting many other nutrients as well but B12 is a major one. Check out the study yourselves, it's easy to find on the internet as it just came out this week.

sorry about the delayed response, you didn't hit reply so i didn't see the response. Well, i'm not a in anyway a history major. But i do know statistics, and the amount of meat that we eat over the last 100 years has over doubled, and the amount of grains has gone below half. Also in that time obesity was on the rise and not is at epic proportions. Also, i know that since i have become vegan, i have lost weight, and healthier than i have ever been in my life according to my doctors.

I guess this means I won the argument then? That was easy.

I figured you didn't know history. Aryans were Indo-Euopeans, they were pastoral people and they slaughtered cattle as food. "it is because of the prominence of pastoral life that beef-eating prevailed in Vedic times." From _Ancient India_ by R. S. Sharma, Professor of History and Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences at Delhi University 1977. Healthy people who consumed meat everyday would be - Masai, Inuit, most Native American tribes, Mongolians, Gaels of Ireland/Scotland and Maori.

animal protein came from when they had to kill during the winter months and food was at a shortage. I dont know all of them, but Aryans are at least one. 5000 years of vegan lifestyle. Now show me a tribe anywhere that consumes meat every day of the week? Meat was used for when humans couldn't find fruits and veggies. If you even look at how our body digests it, it says that we should only eat it in a time of famine.

So name a people/tribe in history that ate a diet with no animal protein. Now name a people/tribe in history that were unhealthy because of it and name the diseases they suffered from.

because diets in meat aren't healthy. Vegan diet has been proven over and over again to be the most healthy diet there is. Beef has no real benefit and needs nothing. Do some research, meat is horrible.

Where's the beef? It's like these guys are talking about another planet where people evolved on fruits and vegetables.
